Marta Obuchowicz-Rice

Marta was born in the small Polish town of Lebork formally known as Lauenburg, prior to the end of World War II, in the Prussian province of Pomerania in 1978.

Whilst Marta's inherent natural talent was realised at an early age when she showed extreme aptness working with charcoal on paper and later through the media of oil on canvas which allowed her too evoke optimal sensation through the use of colour and light she graduated in English and Drama.

Notwithstanding Marta has finally succumbed to her passion and has since dedicated her life to her art.

After meeting her husband Elliot eight years ago Marta moved to London. Marta and her husband Elliot spent five years travelling the world during which time she was able to absorb a myriad of inspiring images from so many diverse cultures. From these experiences Marta was able to glean a feast of inspiring ideas for her work.

Whilst Marta is proficient in many artistic media, she has an almost intimate understanding of the use of oil, nevertheless her creative ability not only transcends onto the canvas. Marta's constant experimentation with artistic mediums particularly mixed media in such an original way allows her to create such masterpieces as "After" and "Illusion" almost defying explanation. Through texture, form, light and colour Marta's art immediately translates into an overwhelming, almost hypnotic timeless obsession.

Her innate ability and instinctive use of colour including gold and bronze and in some cases iridescent oils create truly beautiful works of art.

Marta says, "When she paints she likes to challenge herself moving away from comfort zones and the techniques and forms she is familiar with and understands in order to create something new and surprising".
