Zoe James-Williams

Zoe's art explores the inner character and mood of the female subject as well as their beauty and power. The viewer, meanwhile is taken on a journey into another world allowing them to imagine what hidden stories are within the paintings. By making the woman anonymous the viewer can reflect their own thoughts and feelings into the paintings.

Their enigmatic quality is accentuated by the limited watercolour palette of jewel like colours creating a poetic, romantic and thought provoking image. The simple white drapes and misted background deliberately give Zoe's paintings a timeless quality.

In an increasing frenetic world Zoe's paintings capture a moment in time of peace and tranquillity where these women exude an undisturbed calm.

Zoe is now working with Swansea Ballet Russe, a Russian Ballet company. She is?studying the dancers, in movement and repose, endeavouring to capture their beauty, experimenting with different mediums including pen, pencil, watercolour and pastel. Zoe's art explores the inner character and mood of her subjects using simplicity of line and a limited palette.
